Hello friends! Welcome to a slightly belated WIWLW-ish. This week is everything I wore for our trip to NYC! My daughter and I met my husband in the city early last week(he was already there for work). It was our daughter’s first time to visit and it was a dream come true for all of us! She’s been dreaming about visiting NYC for a while now. We tried to do all the kid-friendly, tourist-y things we could, so I strategically packed my outfits based on the days’ events. I don’t like to have a lot of luggage to keep track of so I made sure to keep everything to one suitcase for my daughter and I. Plus our hotel room was teeny-tiny so this was the move; with limited space I’d rather people take up room and not things. And since looking effortless takes effort, I planned everything out in my trusty Canva (image below). I swapped a few outfits but ended up wearing everything except for the extra activewear dress I packed for a ‘just in case’ moment. sigh I just love a well planned suitcase. This is my ASMR. *taps the screen*

Tuesday | Travel Day

As you can see I traded out my travel day outfit last minute. No explanation, just vibes. PS: these flats are comfy but after 8 hours I was ready to change shoes!
Gap Tee | Similar Shorts | Nylon Tote
I quickly changed and we grabbed dinner down by Hudson Yards. I ended up wearing this tee again because I wore it for such a short amount of time. Also this was the first time I wore these shorts (sold out at Quince) and concluded I want a longer, more oversized tee with them. Perhaps this one?
Wednesday | Top of the Rock + NBC Studio Tour
Spanx Vest | Spanx Shorts | Adidas Sneakers | Clare V. Bag | Madewell Sunnies
I was afraid that this outfit would be too warm, but it ended up being a perfect weight! I paired it with some incredibly comfortable Adidas sneakers (they look yellow here but they’re a light tan) and it was a perfect tourist outfit in my opinion. I easily went from tour to tour and felt pulled together the whole time.
Wednesday Night | The Lion King show

I loved wearing this dress — it’s so vibrant and bold. I didn’t quite know the vibe of Broadway shows, as it’s been a minute since I’ve been to one. And honestly I was a bit overdressed but that’s never bothered me one bit. This dress runs a touch big, by the way! I’d size down if in between.
Thursday | The Met + 9/11 Museum + Statue of Liberty

This was a long day and if you’re familiar with NYC, you’re probably thinking why did you go from the top of Central Park to the bottom of Manhattan in ONE DAY? So glad you asked. We had initially planned to go to the Statue of Liberty instead of the Met but this was the first day of the heat wave and not a-one of us wanted to walk around in 104º heat outside without cover. So we added on The Met (so glad we did!) and chose the Statue of Liberty sunset cruise instead! I needed an outfit I could wear in a/c and heat, and this dress was perfect. I added biker shorts underneath for comfort. These sneakers are the BEST choice. I wore them all day without socks, too. Bold choice I know but I didn’t bring any socks that were no-show and I chose fashion over function. However, these sneakers are 100% leather and they didn’t rub once. I honestly couldn’t believe it. They’re perfect for a walking kind of trip.
PS: ended up loving this cheap nylon tote! It was a great size to tote everything around, lightweight and easy to fold up in my suitcase, too.
Friday | American Natural History Museum + MoMa
Gap Tee | Madewell Shorts | NB Sneakers | Cuyana Mini Tote
I present to you my ‘90s mom on vacation’ outfit. You see I originally planned to wear the big poplin with these shorts (and still stand by that outfit!) but this day was going to be hot and lots of walking so these shoes were my best bet. I swapped my nicer top for this tee just to keep the casual vibe of the look and voila! 90s mom. (The sneakers are comfy but I did add in a gel sole. I’m so glad I did.)
I thought about these shorts all month long and so glad I finally bought them.
Friday Night | Dinner + Times Square
I ended up wearing this dress to dinner instead of the Saturday I had planned. To be honest, it looked stupid with the hat AND the sneakers, so I just wore it to dinner instead. It started raining like crazy so I didn’t get a snap of the dress, but it’s a super comfortable dress that looks polished and pulled together. Also I didn’t have to re-steam this one, so it’s a very lovely travel option.
Saturday | 5th Ave + Travel Day
Maeve Poplin Top | Agolde Shorts | Mesh Flats | Clare V. Bag
Would I have worn this for a travel day again? I would not. I was too cold in the airport and plane. But for a quick half day on 5th Avenue? Yes, absolutely yes. This was the most neutral outfit of all, and I just loved how my shoes matched my bag.
